Prostate Cancer and Natural Threatment

In a particular year, some 200,000 American men discover they have prostate cancer and natural treatment is their only hope. Prostate cancer is the second most diagnosed cancer in men, after skin cancer.

While most medical intervention aim at eliminating the problem, not much thought is given to the side-effects of some of these treatments. It was this issue that made Larry Clapp embark on his  extraordinary journey which revealed to him the healing program that rid him of his cancer and inspired his insightful eBook "Prostate Health in 90 Days without Drugs or Surgery." This book and the program highlighted therein, was a call to patients of prostate cancer and natural treatment professionals to put their heads together to evolve a methodology for treatment using natural methods and substances to reduce the side-effects.

The basis of Dr. Clapp's method is to strengthen the body's natural defenses and balance the pH in the body to eliminate cancer.

According to a study published in the International Journal of Cancer, high intake of calcium may be related to increased risk of prostate cancer. Natural treatment methodologies focus on not only changing what patients eat but also their mental outlook and exercise through natural cures and techniques. Meditation and fasting have been claimed to provide relief in prostate cancer. Natural treatment through homeopathy has also been used quite successfully in some cases.

There is a growing body of observational evidence that carotenoids (especially lycopene) and some sulphur compounds found in broccoli are very effective in reducing the risk of prostate cancer. Natural treatment proponents, therefore, recommend including a larger amount of tomatoes and broccoli in the daily diet. Since carotenoids are not absorbed very well from raw foods, cooking them to a point between raw and overcooked is recommended. The eating of raw carrots, for example, allow absorption of only about 1-2% beta-carotene but eating the carrots after steaming them with a little healthy oil boosts this absorption dramatically.

Vitamin E and selenium lower the risk of prostate cancer and so this means inclusion of such foods as wheat, hops, rice, egg yolks, vegetables, nuts, meat and dairy products and barley in the diet. For patients of prostate cancer, natural treatment may include intake of vitamins and food supplements like cornsilk and beta-sitosterol.
